DESCRIPTION: \nPUBLIC NOTICE   \n \n \nThe Buchanan County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the position of Director of Economic Development for Buchanan County, Virginia.  The successful applicant shall be responsible for new business recruitment; local business retention and expansion; marketing and outreach for economic development and tourism; real estate management for Buchanan County Economic Development property; commercial lease management; project management for construction, infrastructure and broadband.  The successful applicant must have the ability to speak in public settings, have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to manage departmental budgeting, have proficiency in word processing, preparing spreadsheets, Power Point presentations, print design computer software, website management and website development tools. Subsequent to an interview the applicant may be requested to submit to a criminal background check.  Also, the applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.  County residency is required within a mutually agreeable time.  A four-year Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required. Also, the applicant will report directly to the County Administrator.\n \nQualified applicants should submit a cover letter with salary requirements along with a completed application form and resume which includes at least three professional references. Applications may be obtained in the Buchanan County Administrator’s Office.  Applications may be submitted to the County Administrator’s Office on the third floor of the Buchanan County Government Center Building, 4447 Slate Creek Road, or by mail to P. O. Box 950, Grundy, Virginia 24614.  The position will remain open until is it filled.
